Hating the Sin and LOVING the Sinners!

Quick update on our work during the World Cup here in Rio....

Jeff, Craig and I spent time today with Brazilian churches in preparation for our work during the World Cup.  We spent time in prayer, worship and organization.

Afterwards the three of us spent time visiting Vila Mimosa, Rio's oldest and largest red light district, where we'll be serving together for 32 days with the Brazilian church, our six TREK7 college-age team and John Spina from Johnston Evangelical Free Church.

We couldn't take photos, as we didn't want to jeopardise our relationship with anyone in the area, so the photo above is taken off the internet.

We are hating the sin and loving the sinners!  We are thrilled to have this opportunity to shine the light of Christ into this hell on earth!

Please join us in prayer!  Pray for fruit that remains!

Love,

Diane and Jeff

Exodus 3:7 says, "The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering."

Lifting Jesus Higher than Soccer!

CHARLES SPURGEON said, "If there be any one point in which the Christian church ought to keep its fervor at a white heat, it is concerning missions.  If there be anything about which we cannot tolerate lukewarmness, it is the matter of sending the gospel to a dying world.."

We're joyfully preparing to receive our six TREK7 college-age missionaries from the United States.  They're being sent from their churches for such a time as this, during the World Cup, to join us in our efforts to combat sex trafficking...students walking strongly with the Lord and on fire---with a white heat fervor---to share the gospel of Christ!

We've been spending a great amount of time in prayer and in the Word.  As well, we've been selecting our training topics, editing our mentoring and discipleship materials and preparing the Mission house.  We're praising God that we've had abundant water with our new water system and have had a lot of rain recently.

We're thrilled that we will have six weeks to pour into the lives of these these young college-age Christ followers!  We are excited to not only give them a taste of ministry here in Rio, but, as well, we're anxious to see how the Lord will use each one of them during their time here!

We'll spend time mentoring and discipling these youth, giving them opportunities to learn how to street evangelize, share their faith and experience ministry in Brazilian culture.

Our focus will be to combat human trafficking during the World Cup in Rio's oldest and largest red light district, Vila Mimosa.  What the enemy is putting together for destruction, we will use for God's glory!  We'll walk where Jesus would walk and take our light into the darkness and watch the Lord work in amazing ways! Without a doubt Christ's free gift of salvation will be rejected but God has rewards waiting for those in heaven and so every time we share His message, we win!

Luke 6:22 & 23 says, "Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.  Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets."

Please join us in praying as we pray, evangelize and make disciples...pray for effective ministry and fruit that remains!

Blessed to be serving our Majestic King Jesus,

Diane and Jeff

Being Lukewarm is NOT of the Lord!

Last evening we sadly said goodbye to two awesome men of God that were here with us in Rio for a week...two men that are on fire for Christ and know that God's top priority is the salvation of every single soul...two men that desire to be continuously used by God in what really matters to His heart!

Pastor Keith and John spent time encouraging and ministering to several Brazilian pastors.  As well, they preached the Word of God, visited and prayed over Vila Mimosa, the oldest red light district in Rio where our ReachGlobal City Team and Trek7 interns will be evangelizing for a month during the World Cup starting next month, and had many opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ out in the streets here in Rio.

Believers typically tend to think that the people we meet don't want to talk with us about eternity and Jesus, but what we experience here in Rio is the complete opposite.  So we never believe that lie from the enemy.  We daily have countless opportunities here to share the true gospel message of Jesus Christ!

Many seeds were planted this past week through John and Keith and please join us in praying that those seeds fell on good soil to bear fruit that remains!

It will be a joy for us to follow-up in the coming days with several connections that they made out in the streets here!

Bless you Pastor Keith and John for your time here!  Bless you for your passion and your desire to be used by God and saying, "Yes" to God and traveling a "brazilian" miles to serve with us here in Rio!

Humble servants of our Lord Most High,

Diane and Jeff

Our True Source of Living Water.....

Please join us in praising God this morning for the arrival of water at the Mission House!  It's been a long and frustrating process, but....

..more importantly we praise God for his son, Jesus, the source of living water that brings life to the soul!

Because it's all about Him,

Diane and Jeff
