Combatting Illiteracy and Sharing the Message of Jesus Christ

Hannah with a Brazilian woman and her grandchild

Reach Global Trek-7 Team, Juliana & Catia of Atuacao Voluntaria

This morning the Rio Trio began a 4-week project at the local public health clinic with Atuacao Voluntaria, one of our Brazilian partners.  We will be returning every Wednesday morning to show the love of Christ to all those we meet.

The first picture above is of a woman who was at the clinic with her granddaughter and Hannah, one of the three interns.  The woman loved the project and she asked if we could come and offer the same project in her community.  A small child asked Hannah if she could speak English right away when she was born :)

The project involves reading children's books to the children that are waiting for free health services.  Atuacao Voluntaria has received permission from the government to have this program at the local public health clinic to combat illiteracy.

Today the director of the clinic thanked us all for our work.  She shared that the project has been well-received and that it is a blessing for the people as they wait for health services. We also have opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the Evange Cube.

Most of the books that are being read are christian books.  Along with reading to the children, we have opportunities to share with the mothers and fathers.  All the volunteers are Christians and several are from the local church and so we have a local bible-teaching church that we can direct new believers to.

Please pray for us as we go weekly and love these families with the love of Christ!

Blessed to be serving together,

Diane, Jeff and the Rio Trio
