Do Not Be Discouraged....

This past weekend was an amazing time with our Trek-7 Rio Trio of God-ordained appointments!

We had been a little discouraged when the city shut down last Friday because of the protests going on in the city, including the public schools.  Sometimes in missions, we get caught up in doing instead of who we are in Christ.  We were anxious to go to the school and teach Friday, but God had other things for us!  Our team was able to study together and learn many things together---of which we are grateful!

This morning Hannah lead our devotions from Deuteronomy 31:8, which says, "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."  It was a wonderful reminder that He is going before us and showing us the way we should go.  Hannah encouraged us all greatly with this message from God's Word!

One such incident where we saw God making the plans was on Saturday evening when we attended some small group bible studies.  Earlier in the day, I had asked Jordan to prepare a word for the evening.  She is gifted in Portuguese and loves to teach, as well.  I really didn't know if she would have a chance to use it.  We didn't want to interrupt what Caju leadership was teaching that evening.

When we arrived in Caju, we were flexible and didn't know which of the small groups we would attend.  We first were blessed to go to a men's bible study.  Right before we went up the stairs to this home, the leader asked if anyone would like to share a Word.  Jordan beautifully shared the Word that God had laid on her heart and it fit into the men's study perfectly!  God is good----ALL THE TIME!

We were then able to attend a young woman's study, where Jordan again was able to share the Word.

Saturday evening, Drew was invited to spend the night at the home of Juliana, Gilson, Caleb and Tiago.  They are the leaders of Atuacao Voluntaria.  Drew was a great encouragement to these young boys and together they had an "English Evening" in their home, as the family is learning English!  Drew is currently studying in the area of teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL).

Sunday morning we were blessed to worship at the local EF church, CELivre in Recreio.  Below is a picture of a sweet little sister-in-Christ with the Rio Trio!  We then enjoyed a potluck lunch and fellowship at the church.

Sunday evening, we were blessed again to go to Caju for the service and afterwards go out into the streets of this neighborhood proclaiming the name of Christ!  Approximately 250 people from the church went out singing, dancing, praying and making His name known!

Please pray for us as we go out again tomorrow for our day of Evangelism with the Rio Trio.

Blessed to be serving with this group of awesome, mature youth for Christ!
